Here’s an explicit request for help: given the description of the slide below, could someone try to locate this place, i.e., “at West Guard Gate Rochester” and

looking toward a curve in the distance, attempt to take a photo of this location in 2024? Alternatively, could you point me in the direction with an address and I’ll take the photo. Carlotta and Chas. C. Wing have appeared in other photos from the CSNY collections.

The image invites the eye further and further in the distance, where

crew and more tugboats lie in this knot of a construction flotilla.

Another request: when I took this photo, which I did for a specific reason I’ve since forgotten, I neglected to reproduce the identification info on the reverse of this postcard reproduction. My question: Are we looking at Lock 28B in Newark under construction and photo taken from the rail bridge just to the west of the lock?
