Hat tip to William Hecht for putting lots of photos through his clean-up process these days, including many showing Oswego scenes.  Dispatches has profiled Oswego scenes previously here.

Recall that Oswego was designated as the first port of entry into the United States west of the Atlantic Seaboard back in 1799, and is currently the first U.S. port of call and deepwater port on the Great Lakes from the Saint Lawrence Seaway.     More on the steamer Arundell [1879-1922]can be read here.  That lighthouse stood until 1927.

As back then, port of Oswego continues to see all manner of commercial shipping, as here

I’d love to know what function each of these add-on rooms and outbuildings had.

So many questions are raised by this detail of the postcard, but they might likely not be answered.

Also as back then, cold weather brings snow and ice buildup to Oswego.

Ever visit Oswego?  Impressions?
