For the Canal Society of NY, March 2025 has been filled with public events, beginning with the annual Winter Symposium held in Rochester on March 1, 2025. Attendance was at near capacity. Click on the link for a reminder of the list of speakers and topics.

Among the stellar presentations was an update by the Buffalo Maritime Center about the plans for 2025 involving the replica Erie Canal boat Seneca Chief.

John Dady and Kit Fallon performed a program called “Songs of the Erie Canal.“

Members of the Board–Craig Williams, Dan Wiles, and Tom Beardsley–discussed plans for the transport of replica Canal schooner Lois McClure the final few miles from the banks of the Seneca River, where it over-wintered, to Old Erie Canal Heritage Park in Port Byron scheduled for later this spring. And yesterday at the Samuel Center, Dawn Jordan brought her Erie Canal Marionette Show to a full house,

fascinating young and old, children of all ages,
