If a wager rode on my guess, I’d say this is Lock E-2.

Making sense of the name that on the forward portion of the tugboat, however, eludes me, but I hope someone can identify the tugboat.

As to lines, these look heavy, so the line handlers were strong.

I love to hear what you think for identification of tug and lock.

The “AS A FE” mystery tug looks to be “Thomas A. Feeney”, which was pictured in Tugster, Canal Tug Project B on January 21, 2022. In that posting there’s an enlarged side-view of Feeney that shows a black object (spotlight?) mounted in front of the wheelhouse that would partially obscure the vessel’s nameboard when viewed from the bow, just as in the mystery photo. The color scheme and position of the life-ring match also match up.

    1. Lee- Thanks for that. You must be good at Scrabble? You need the same skills to pull those letters into a name as you would for Scrabble. Here’s the post you refer to: https://tugster.wordpress.com/2022/01/21/canal-tug-project-b/
