In contrast to the usual utilitarian craft on the pre-Barge Canal waterways and depicted in this blog, here’s quite the cruising yacht, and named Cruiser.

I wonder who the owner would have been and what the occasion was for such a luxurious craft to travel to and stop in Jordan.

The 1912 MVUS lists a steam yacht named Cruiser built in NYC and registered in Albany with dimensions of 80′ x 13′ x 6. Might this be the one? Would the gentleman to the left be the owner or the captain?

All insights welcome.

Many thanks to Bill Hecht for cleaning up the image.

  1. There’s no smoke stack visible, so this may well be an early motor yacht.
