All i know about this image is that it was cleaned up by Bill Hecht’s craft and that it was originally taken in Montezuma, NY.


The wide-brimmed hats on the women might place this as 1910-1915. Men wore straw boaters for a longer period of time. As now, men’s fashion changed less quickly than women’s.

I wonder who these folks were. Did they all know each other? Why did the photographer take this photo? Who was the photographer?

Answers to these questions about images in the CSNY archives may very well never be known, no tales told, just intriguing questions. Still, studying these images from the archives is certainly worth doing. Do you have your favorite mysterious glass plate images?
