Most posts could do, butlet me choose this one to show whoC. L. Churchill powered, or rather danced— around New York State fall 2025. The next few photos show Churchill in summer 2016 as we met on the Erie Canal.

What do you know about her?

This photo I took in Albany in September 2014.

If you don’t know that much about Churchill, you now can because she’s the feature of not one but TWO articles in this issue of Wooden Boat magazine. Yes, she DOES have a wooden hull, and as such

she needs regular rebuilding. This first article was written by Rob Thompson of Windfall Woodworks in Huntington VT.

The second article was written by the late Roger C. Taylor, and has first been published in December 2025 Wooden Boat. And yes, that stack was intentional because it was fitted for her first engine, a out-of-the-crate 1918 military surplus steam engine!

Do try to find a copy of this issue to read about arguably one of the most photographed tugboats of 2025 and at least a decade before that.
