(Revised version)
Ever visit Mineto, or Minetto as it is spelled today? It’s a hamlet of fewer than 1500 people as of the 2010 census. Bill Hecht recently cleaned up the image below from the collections of the CSNY. This photo was taken from the west side of the Oswego River, which flows to the left. Beyond the bridge is lock O-5, about five miles upstream from lock O-8, beyond which is Lake Ontario.

Kids then as today needed or wanted to learn to swim or just to cool off.

There’s a gas station/convenience store on the far side of the bridge now.

I wonder when and why that pool structure was removed.

In the photo below, which I took from the river in September 2018, a Newark NJ tugboat heads toward lock O-5 and ultimately to Erie PA to pick up a new barge.

Thanks to Bill for cleaning up the image.
