Let’s start in Adams Basin, west of Rochester.

This is an outing with folks in their best attire, which included hats.


It’s hard to tell if the girl in the window is wearing a hat or a large bow.

This convergence is happening in Auriesville, and I’d guess east of town given the location of the railroad adjacent to the canal. Auriesville is about 25 miles NW of Schenectady. I can’t tell whether there’s a transfer happening here, train to boat or vice versa.

The locomotive should be identifiable by someone other than myself. It appears to be #20 or 28 of the New York Central & Hudson River line predates 1914.



Hats are certainly “all the rage at this time. I wonder who the woman in white–wearing the ostentatious hat above–might be.
