Tammee Poinan Grimes, President of the Canal Society of New York as well as captain of Colonial Belle, was aboard Buffalo Maritime Center‘s Seneca Chief as a passenger from Fairport to Palmyra.

The flotilla made a stop in Palmyra for an hour for visitors to visit aboard Seneca Chief before it headed to Newark.

Captain Tammee took over the wheel of tugboat C.L. Churchill, tugboat that moves Seneca Chief (instead of mules) for the majority of the trip from Palmyra to Newark!

Tammee reports, ” I enjoyed being involved with another small part of the voyage, experiencing physically being behind the wheel for a short part of the historic journey.”

People greeted the flotilla from shore

and bridges

in Fairport, Perinton, Macedon,

Palmyra, and Newark to greet Seneca Chief.

Many thanks to Tammee for these photos and impressions. More to come.

Bon voyage to the BMC crew and vessels. Have a safe and fun remainder of the trip and look forward to seeing them again in the future.

Let me reiterate the call for all hands, i.e., all correspondents, members of the CSNY and non-members alike. Please help with photos and story as the flotilla heads farther east.
