Craig Williams, a retired senior historian at the New York State Museum and a trustee of the Canal Society of New York State and who has spent over 50 years researching and documenting New York’s canal heritage, sent along this report from Cornwall-on-Hudson. Note: In that link, check out the image of Clermont stopping in the same riverfront village in 1810.

Craig traveled to Cornwall-on-Hudson for the arrival of Seneca Chief. His photo below shows Brian Trzeciak, current executive director of Buffalo Maritime Center, who grew up in Cornwall.

A dozen plus miles downriver, another historical vessel, Day Peckinpaugh awaits a new life.

Today the Seneca Chief flotilla will travel from Ossining to Manhattan, Pier 26 in Hudson River Park, ETA said to be in the afternoon.
Many thanks to Craig for sending along this report.
