I have a question at the end of this post.
Bob Stopper took the two photos that follow. Bob framed both shots so that no one can dispute that he took them in Lyons, the county seat of Wayne County NY.

Recall the year of the beer tanks?

The lock above is 28A, the one below slightly to the east, lock 27. The tugboat shown in this photo from the 1950s is Elise Ann Conners, built in 1881 in Camden NJ and scrapped only recently.

This 1921 image shows another tugboat in lock 28A; it’s spring 1921 and Benjamin L. Cowles enters with a string a fuel barges. Click here for much more information can be found about Cowles as well as other vintage and steam tugs in Wayne County and elsewhere along the waterway.

Here’s my question: Has there ever been a tugboat named Lyons working in the NYS canal system? I can’t think of one.
The beer tanks traveled the system to Rochester in 2017.
