Bob Stopper followed the Seneca Chief flotilla on her Back to Buffalo Voyage last week and shares these great photos at a series of locks.

Bob writes, “In the distance is the famous brick structure “E 56 Store” or also referred to as “The PoorHouse Store” utilized by the second Erie Canal. The mule trail is just a few feet from the front door!”

Next stop was Newark because “To take care of basics needs. As an authentic replica of the 200-year-old boat, it lacks some ot the amenities we take for granted in today’s world.”

Bob writes, “A hearty welcome as the “Seneca Chief” arrives at the Port of Palmyra.”

“…entering lock 30.”

“Seneca chief has departed lock 30 with new passengers- Ambassadors and guests of the Fairport- Perrington Partnership have just boarded!”

On Saturday, June 27, the crew will get the vessel back to Buffalo for the homecoming.
