At minimum, 524 miles is the distance spanned by NYS Canals. More camera phones exist in the US today than people, and that’s not counting proper cameras.

The photo below dates from just under a century ago–see the comments in this post from my other blog. During that time, many fewer cameras existed and as the photo illustrates, they were cumbersome.

Since it’s summertime and canal use is at its peak, please share some photos of yourself enjoying the miles of canals. Boats, bikes, fishing poles, picnics, your local canal-sited events, all manner of unusual sights . . . we’d love to post them on this blog.
