More than a week ago two artists and a canoe with a mule figurehead departed Waterford for Buffalo following the itinerary below.

The intrepid travelers have traveled more than a third of the way across the state. One of their stops was at Guy Park Manor, now open to the public and featuring Z Behl’s “glass canoe” exhibit, see below. Do click on this Guy Park Manor link for photos about the restoration of a historic building damaged during the post-Irene and Lee 2011 hurricane flooding.

From the Canal, Z writes “Today we are doing a performance in Canastota and visiting the NAHOF Museum of Abolition.”

“Tomorrow August 20 we are paddling the old Erie over to Dewitt and portaging to Onondaga lake.”
Look for the team, Kim and Z, as they make their way toward the west and say hello.

Dispatches welcomes contributions of photos and stories from correspondents who step forward, welcome the canoeists, and gets their impressions of the canal and the corridor it flows through.
