Cathy Contant of Palmyra sent this photo along. It’s been on her desk for too long waiting to be scanned. Like too many prints, it’s both a pleasure and a frustration to look at, an intriguing image offering no clue about the questions like where and when was it taken, by whom, who are the crew depicted . . . and I could go on.

The 1946 issue of Merchant Vessels of the US (MVUS) provides some information below, but the tugboat was last listed in MVUS in 1960.

Cathy also writes that “Dynamic was built in 1927 in Tottenville, New York, by George Brown. It served commercial operations in New York and along the Erie Canal system under multiple owners before leaving official documentation in 1967. In 1930 it was acquired and operated by the Dynamic Corporation of New York. In 1935 it was sold to Conners Marine, working canal and harbor routes. In 1967 it was retired and removed from active maritime documentation records.”

Many thanks to Cathy for sending along this image and query. Any help?
