Note: Many thanks to Steven Talbot for these photos. I was not able to attend this study tour, so I’m inviting your participation in this report. What I’m asking is as follows: 1) If you attended, please comment on one or more of these images and what impression the visit to to that specific location left? 2) If you didn’t attend, what questions do specific images raise? 3) Any other thoughts, please share. I moderate all comments.
Another Study Tour is in the books, photo albums, and memories, and as is the start of a Dispatches tradition–see here–the first report includes a group shot, attendees posed, this time in front of the 1833 former bank home of the Little Falls Historical Society Museum.

Judging from these next two photos, I’ve decided I need to visit the interior someday soon.

If you’ve never found a Herkimer diamond, I advise you come to the area and search.

Lodging is available in this inn along a picturesque portion of the Mohawk River.

This collection is on the Lock 40 plot.

Then it was to the river aboard Lil Diamond II.

Below, Fort Herkimer Church, built before the signing of the Declaration of Independence, is seen from the Erie Canal/Mohawk River.

Craig Williams writes, “One of the high points for me was that Herkimer family descendants attended (CSNY members!) and really enjoyed the Herkimer Home and the Fort Herkimer Church.”
That’s your cue. Let’s share our impressions in the comments.

Here’s the view of the Home, as seen from the path to the Mohawk River.

Reactions to this sitting area?

This is installment 1 of September 2026 Study Tour report. I look forward to your comments.
Many thanks to Steven for sharing the first batch of photos and the Craig for his initial comment.
