Many thanks to Cathy Contant for sharing this image of Conners Marine Robin Hood and Martha. I’ve added some data points on the tugboat.

Below are the dimensions and place of build as Charlestown MA.

Merchant Vessels of the US (MVUS) 1935

She was known as New York Marine Co. No. 4. as early as 1930. I suspect that was not her original build name.

MVUS 1946

In 1950 she was owned by Haakonsen Oil Transportation Co.

MVUS 1950

And that ownership seems to have changed by 1955.

MVUS 1955

An image is just a starting point; these MVUS entries provide just enough information to plant much more curiosity. Questions might include the date of this image? the location of the shot? the life and usage of Martha the barge? Martha’s history and fate? Robin Hood‘s disposition? the crew? . . . and I could go on.

Tangentially related: Here’s info about other Conners Marine tugboats on the Barge Canal. And here’s info about a different New York Marine Co. No. tugboat owned by Haakonsen.

Again, many thanks to Cathy for sharing this photo. Click here for previous Lost World posts.
