Give me your patience here, the Canal system is about, among other things, transportation and follows transport trends.

The photos above and below I took in July 2024.

Other times, this blog have featured other trucks like here pulling Lois McClure, and

here alongside Urger, and

here at at canal activity along the western part of the canal, and

here at a cargo dock going way back,

a lock during the 1960s, and I’m inviting you to share your canal-related and NYS water-related land vehicle photos here.

I hope you’ve been patient, because here’s where I’ve been going, some photos enhanced by Bill Hecht that I’d love to learn more about. Someone out there must know where a Cayuga Motors business was located along a railroad track.

Someone else must know more about the Cayuga Lake ferry, more than the location. Note the paddle boxes and sidewheel propulsion near the stern. Who built these ferries? Are there more photos of the actual ferries? I see no smoke stack. What powered them?

And what brand of cars were these?

Please comment below.

We’re also always looking for correspendents. For example, what does the November or December canal look like in your part of the state? More volunteers for the Faces and Voices series?

  1. Cayuga Motors was located just south of the present train station, village hall.
