Who knew Colonial Belle could look like this in the Erie Canal?

Many thanks to Bob Stopper for catching the shot of the Belle coming and going, as the daylight hours shorten. Bob write, “[This is part of my] Through the Lens series. I was following the Colonial Belle Tour boat on the truly dark and Eerie canal.

The Belle was headed to the Lyons Drydock on 11.3.2026, but high water needed to be lowered in places so the boat could navigate under bridges. Darkness fast approached, but Captain Tammee Poinan Grimes navigated the vessel all the way to Newark.

In the morning of 11.4.2026, the vessel will lock through Lock 28B as it continues its journey to the Lyons Drydock, adjacent Lock 28A.”

Many thanks to Bob for these photos.
