Many thanks to Bill Hecht for passing this event along. If I lived nearby, I’d go. Jordan is less than 10 miles east of Port Byron.

And what a lovely shot, a dozen people in three boats in the summertime, and certainly not in working clothes.

Thanks to the Jordan Historical Society for sponsoring the event and to Bill Hecht for sending me the invitation.

My memories of Jordan date from my October 2020 bike ride from Tonawanda to Waterford. I stopped in several places in Jordan to snap these interpretive signs, and promised myself I’d come back some day, but I’ve not yet done so. Click here for previous blog posts alluding to Jordan.

I’ve mentioned lock 52 repeatedly on this blog. Behold lock 51.

Is this lock 51 as it appears today beside the bike trail?

I posted a CSNY photo of steamer Walter McMullin here just over a year ago, and hindsight tells me I asked questions then that we answered in my own photo library, photos from the 2020 bike ride.

Signage like this speaks eloquently about another age.

Any errors here, WVD.
